Cottonwood, South Dakota (Pop: 9) has some downtown commercial property available with obvious potential...

    That’s what I’d call social distancing. :D

That two story brick building has good bones.

Only nine neighbors to complain and likely no cops to respond when I crank it until the neighborhood dogs sing along.

Looks like a Wal-Mart waiting to happen.

Good to know! Kinda like that church in the background, too. Might be some interesting sounds.

Hold out for an island, you'll be glad you did

I have never regretted Blowtorch Island, and even moreso, or uh, less so, these days

Couple of big beautiful stone buildings from the 1800s in my county you could get for cheap, but bringing them up to code, millions.

Well, it was just a thought, I'll keep looking.

The problem is that BacklundCo Industries is bursting the seams of it's present 10X12, lower level, digs. The R&D department is overflowing into the Warehouse and the Central Creative Department. Bookeeping and Human Resources are absolutely chaotic, and the cat just runs willy-nilly wherever the hell he wants to.

    Something gotta give.

When the objective is keeping people away, all kinds of opportunities present themselves.

I don't really need to go to extremes to keep people away, I just grab one of my Backlund guitars and hold it out in front of me like a priest fending off demons with a cross, and they usually run like hell..... unfortunately, taking their wallets with them.

    ;)

I like it. Especially if the building and the foundation are sound. Not sure if you have a similar situation in South Dakota but here on the prairies (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) there are hundreds and maybe thousands of small towns and villages which have dwindled down to very low populations. Buildings are empty and can be snapped up for a song. Taxes are low as well. If you can do business from a rural location, this is the way to go.
And there's the added bonus of living in a small town or village. Something you can't put a price on.

I'm guessing that Property Taxes are pretty low?

We could change our names to Gomez and Morticia and move right in, with our cats renamed Pugsley and Tuesday.
