I really look forward to spending a few hours every week with Ira Flatow.

A good step the the right direction. Not sure how successful he is, but I like his philosophy:

I feel fortunate to have several good friends who are scientists. For an arrogant, pedantic bastard like me, it’s always good to talk to them so I can re-set my ego and feel like a dumbass.

And then there’s my brother-in-law who worked on designing fighter jets. If you call him an engineer, he’ll snort back at you with “I’m a physicist, not an engineer”

Sadly, it seems that fewer people believe in science these days. Good thing that science doesn't care if you believe or not.

Now Santa Claus, on the other hand....well, all I can say, is you better believe. Especially now. My experience has shown that behavior between Halloween and the end of December can significantly impact the number of toys that appear beneath the Christmas tree. This has been confirmed by peer reviewed anecdotal evidence.

Love the show! Ira is a great interviewer. He speaks smartly, but doesn't talk down to the audience and has that spark of "gee-whiz this is neat" that lets you know he loves what he's doing and is genuinely excited by true discovery.
