Just picked up a 2011 Dominatrix for a great price including shipping.
What do I need to know?

Does this mean we missed a chance to make a funny about the amp being called a "Dominatrix"? Cause if not, you've lost me.A missed opportunity for parallelism of a mutual inverse comparative.
No, nothing funny there, as far as I can see, except that more than one amp maker has chosen to use that name.Does this mean we missed a chance to make a funny about the amp being called a "Dominatrix"?

Solid gold post!The Watkins Dominator came in more than one form. The first version had only a single tone control following the input preamp stage. The MKIII had a TMB tone stack following that preamp stage and only one gain stage following the tone. The Goodsell 17s are based on the Fender 5F6A/Gibson GA70 preamp circuits…two gain stage with a cathode follower after the preamp.
One can do a simple experiment with this amp to see IF this Dominatrix is based on the MKIII Watkins Dominator. Set the amp’s volume and tone c9ntrols on ten…or 11 if they go that far…max. With the guitar controls dimed, hit the intro to Johnny B. Goode….do those notes go to pieces? If so, the TMB tone stack is early in the circuit If you can dime all of those amp controls and the signal stays together, then you have the 5F6A Bassman, Gibson GA70, early Marshall, and Vox AC39 top boost type of preamp where the changes to the tone stack are not amplified throughout the preamp—following immediately after the input gain stage—-and therefore do not go to pieces. With amps that have a single tone control, yo7 can run the tone anywhere it pleases one, ime. The placement of that TMB tone stack is instrumental in determining how it acts in the circuit.
these Watkins Dominators had two gain stages followed by a LTP PI and a cathode biased output section. My guess by looking at the schematics is that I would prefer the first version. Ommv.
I have only been around a couple 9f Goodsell 34s. Those were Md. 17 heads that went back to R. Goodsell to be modded to utilize EL34s. They are little cathode biased 5F6A amps, imho.
Oh you droll guy you - noone expected the Spanish Inquisition!I'm sorry for any confusion I might have caused by my previous post. My reference to a missed opportunity to the use of parallelism, was to the literary term. Maybe something along the lines of, "Say hello, to good buy, from Goodsell."
As to other amps with the same name;
