Used Schecters are the best bang for your buck out there. Have fun.

Congrats! Great looking guitar. Do you have any experience with LTD guitars?

I used to play one weekly in a local music store. Played wonderful and love the SD pickups. Heavy as I remember.

I picked up a white Tempest Custom at a too crazy to say price a few weeks ago, I was not looking for one...BUT I have had a bunch of Shecters over the years and knew it would be great. It's great! I would have gotten a black one if possible. Mine is an 06, and the neck is NOT thin, it's a perfect medium thickness neck. I got rid of a really nice LTD not long ago because the thin neck was just too thin for me, and causing me hand problems which I do suffer from sometimes (old man alert).

So I was not loving this guitar, because of the weight.
Got a nice wide padded strap on it (20 bucks!)

...and it seems to maybe no longer be an issue.
    It plays and sounds awesome

So I got some tele-style black steel barrel controls for the two tone knobs (if you look at the pics, you'll see they are missing)

When I went to install them, I discovered something I hadn't previously been aware of-this sucker is coil-splitting! and it sounds great either way. Also I now see why the tone pot stems were missing the knobs, it's a lot easier to activate the push/pull switches without the knobs on the shafts. I'm leaving them off

This thing is a solid crunchy tone monster!
and the wide strap makes playing it a breeze

I like the looks of that guitar. It's different enough to be its own thing, unique.... but it's not an over the top wacky design either. The aged looking binding is a nice touch too, much cooler than white binding.
