It was great. Real, true, genuine, high octane, in your face, rockabilly, traditional country music. It was loud at the right time & soft at the right time. The sound of two teles at full twang in the hands of masters is something to witness. A must see. And they seem like nice folk. Easily the best concert I've ever been to.

Honestly I never liked his commercial radio stuff. Hillbilly Rock etc.
It has been since I joined this forum and picked up RFD TV that I have grown to love his stuff.

Saw him a couple years ago, absolutely a great show. One of my top 10 concerts.

I think you have to see Marty performing in order to get it, just listening, doesn't seem to do it.

My wife and I saw them at Lincoln City a couple years ago. They ever come near here again, I'm going! Great show.

My cable box is all full of Marty Stuart Show recordings, too. I like to play along with them; I've learned a lot, and gotten better I think. Great show when it's without guests, and often features great guests, too. Thank you, Marty Stuart, and RFD TV.

I saw him in a small theatre setting a year ago and 30 years ago with Travis Tritt. Talk about the wisdom (and damned good pickin') that comes with age!

    Lynchburg, right?

    I really wanted to go.

Just a bit too far out of safe operating distance for me, unfortunately, and I couldn't do an overnight.

Glad you had fun. I kinda had a feeling it would be great...

    EDIT- I stand corrected!

No way any "star" cares as much about music (all music) as Marty. Love the man for his ethic and convictions as much as his music...

Now I do have one question regarding Leroy Troy's performances. I don't really care for his singing voice and neither does the wife but I've noticed when he does some of his banjo acrobatics, neither hand is near a string ...but the banjo music never misses a note...

Hmmmmm....any thoughts? Are those live tapings really "live"? I sure thought they were.

Just found an old vid recorded live on a porch. He's the real deal! My apologies to the Ol'Slicker!

I dunno about Leroy faking his banjo routines. I've seen him do them on Cumberland Highlanders and I don't think they have the technical abilities on the program to fake a phone ringing. Does seem a little mind boggling, I've noticed the same thing, but maybe it's a little lag in video or something I dunno, but I've seen him do that like I said on Cumberland Highlander's program when they were kind of getting started and I think they're pretty fundamental in broadcast technical knowledge.

Hey thanks TD...I replayed the 15 seconds or so of that clip over a few times looking to see if Leroy was somehow hammering with his left hand but that wasn't the case. At times there IS a noticable lag (video lag behing sound) but this wasn't the case. This episode had Jimmy Newman on it...I love how Marty celebrates the old guys!

My wife and I saw Marty about 3 months ago one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. He played a new acoustic song called "Old Mexico" that I particularly liked. I have tried to find a recording but can't,hopefully he will include it on an album soon.

Marty Stuart and Fabulous are pretty darn good.

    Got to love their playing.

    Singing is great.

They know how to wear their Hillbilly Suits.

They have told me several times there is no post-production audio work on the RFD MSS. They are one-take wonders.

The thing Leroy Troy does with his banjo acrobatics has been around for a long time. I think Uncle Dave Macon was a big proponent of it.
