The movie contains sorcerers, an immortal Titan, a God of Thunder, a woman who can fly through space and shoots energy blasts from her hands, a huge green man with a super-scientist split personality, a Super Soldier with enhanced abilities he got from a special serum, an African King with super powers he got from a purple plant, a genetically-altered raccoon, a walking talking tree, a guy who can not only shrink to microscopic size but also grow to the size of a building, a guy with super strength and agility that he got from a spider, and a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist who flies in a metal suit made of nanites.

And you think the incidents are crazy?? :D:)

Not since the Transformers franchise have I cared less about a movie. These big budget CGI "disaster porn" epics do absolutely nothing for me.

Wife and daughter went to see it for the second time today. I stayed home and got some stuff done.

The Girl has been following how much money this movie has made - she wants it to eclipse Avatar.

I'm not sure if those numbers are pure or adjusted for inflation - but still. A truckload of cash,

I won’t spoil anything for the sake of others, but you’re actually dead wrong.

I'm watching the end credits right now. When can we talk freely without worrying about spoilers?

The only thing I will say is that Scarlett Johansson is a total honey. Always.

A handful and never by choice. They just lack any real substance and are just visual spectacles.

Transformers yes, those flicks are garbage. The MCU stuff, while it has some disappointments among the 22 films, has substance. The whole reason my wife and I loved so many of the early ones is the personality and great character development. The first Iron Man had great three dimensional characters, the first Captain America had a very well developed and emotionally fleshed out romance driving much of the character motivation. Even the first Thor had a very likable lead and a charismatic villain. Black Panther has a lot of moral gray areas inherent in the plot, with the villain actually being right about most of his positions in the film. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of fluff in the series, with entire films being dull and unnecessary (both Ant Mans and Dr Strange come to mind) but the good ones are genuinely good movies and in no way do they ever approach the garbage that Michael Bay puts out.

Yeah, they just aren't for me. You seem into them and that's cool. Different strokes for different folks, is how the saying goes.

I've seen Endgame twice. I loved it. Yes, I'm not rapt in Professor Hulk, but he didn't kill the movie at all. The end was really satisfying, with several character arcs ended in surprising but valid ways.

My favourite Superhero films, in no order

    Infinity War
    Endgame
    Capt America: the first avenger
    Superman: the Movie
    Batman (1989)
Watchmen (fight me - you know I'm right)
    Unbreakable
    Glass
    Shazam
    Dr Strange
    guardians
    Captain Marvel.

plus most of the rest of them...

Saw it this weekend, great movie. It's not a film, it's pure entertainment and nothing is sacred. If you didn't shed a tear, you have no soul :D

The interplay between the characters was funny and enjoyable. The special effects were good. I thought the story line was just another comic book story line with what must have been the same writers who wrote the 90 minute battle scene in GOT last week, about the same ending.

None of these character arcs have ended.

Comics never "resolve" anything. Everyone who was "good" and died will be resurrected in a new movie down the line.

It will be interesting to see if that does happen. We're not talking about the comics here. We're talking about the movies.

The X-Men franchise brought back dead characters by rebooting the whole timeline. We got new actors in younger versions of the characters. I don't know, though, how they will ever replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

There is going to be a Black Widow movie, but it's a prequel. We'll get Scarlett Johannson back, but in a younger version of herself.

The Multiverse opens up all kinds of resurrection possibilities, though. Maybe we'll see Tony Stark in a different universe.

It will be interesting to see, but keep in mind this storyline IS adapted from a comic storyline, and in reality these characters have not been ended/resolved in the comic book story. They play all kinds of games and "reboot" and such but nothing ever ends. I literally picked up the Endgame comic anthology in the store on Friday and paged through it.

The movie industry has just finally figured out that this is the ultimate way to make money.. think about these comic characters. They have managed to keep a bunch of these story lines going for > 50 years. Superman will be 100 in another decade or so.

There is no other commercial franchise content that's really ever been able to keep something going so long. It is reasonable for them to expect that they can keep the movie money machine flowing by following the same model.

It's really no different than what they did with any of the other movie franchises.. everyone likes the perfect movie that is just a single movie and they have the artistic willpower to not kill it to death with sequels, but killing stuff to death with sequels is what makes the money, and if you have a storyline that bakes that in fully and supports it perfectly like superheroes it's a natural thing.

Two decades. Still making him 81.

Think about the fictiona characters who have that cultural cache.

    Sherlock Holmes.

    Robinson Crusoe.

    Frodo Baggins?
    Alice, from the wonderland adventures.

    Don Quixote?

And most of them are allusions now.

Both the phantom (who predated kal el by about 5hree months and supes have done well.
