I just got a Squier Bullet for knockin' around and I love the satin neck finish. I find it much easier to play then a high gloss finish which my hand tends to stick to.

Having said that, I am replacing the neck on a National Resohonic Tricone. I will be getting a complete maple neck (fingerboard, nut, frets) except it will be need to be finished.

I want to dye the neck with black water base dye from Lockwood and sand off until I get something similar to this effect (below) and then finish with a wipe on poly satin.

Am I going about this right? Recommendations for the poly?

    thanks,

    Rob
