One's choice of headstock decal can be quite contentious. To forge or not to forge? Is it counterfeiting to use a brand that isn't what the guitar actually is? What is the proper criteria for choosing a headstock logo?

For me the answer is sarcasm.

A little backstory before the pic for those skinny string folks who don't follow bass gear. Musicman makes a popular bass called the Stingray, they also briefly made some cheap overseas clones by a company called OLP. Just like replacing a Squier logo with a Fender one some people have put Musicman logos on their OLP's to disguise their thriftiness and impress the neighbors.

I almost did the classic "slight mod" to the official logo changing Musicman to Mucusman similar to the changing Fender to Phender or the like. But then I had a thought that amused me much more, and hopefully will amuse some of you as well.

Funny you mention that. I have a Yamaha that I was thinking of changing to Honda and then paint it Dyno Blue Pearl to match my Civic. I think many other car logos would work great too. Anything but Fender!

If I can make just one head explode I have done my job well.

I once saw a Yamaha guitar with YoMama on the headstock.
It was at a guitar show.

    How's 'bout this?

It's actually got much more gloss than the pic shows. It's waiting for a couple more weeks for final wet sanding!

for 'Fender', you could have in the appropriate lettering style 'Fondle', 'Fumble', 'Fandom' 'Feeder' and my favourite, 'Fester'.

I actually saw a Strat or a Tele at a free concert in the mid 90s, I can't remember which guitar it was but I think it was a Tele with the Fender script logo.

I had some block lettering though before the Fender logo. Which I thought was odd as it usually says, "Fender Stratocater" or "Fender Telecaster". This said "something and then it said Fender" or so I thought.

As I got closer I could see it said:

    "you're a nosey F$cker"

I just shook my head and walked away.

    Surprisingly entertaining responses.

In the same vein of threatening to name the cat: "Dog", and name the dog: "Cat" I thought putting the Gibson name on a Fender headstock or vice versa would either cause some people a cerebral hemorrhage or cause them to laugh...
