I just wrapped up my latest build. Not a tele (by a long shot!), but a scratch build nonetheless.

    Solid Sapele neck and body
    Ebony fretboard
    EMG Het Set pickups
    Bone nut
    Schaller locking tuners
    Nitrocellulose lacquer finish

Haha maybe in a few years when I get more experience!
Thanks! The pickups are the EMG James Hetfield signature set. She sounds fantastic! Much sweeter midrange than my mahogany one that I built previously.
I saw that slab of wood and just had to build a guitar with it.

    Thank you.

Way to go! I really love the clean quality of that design and execution. The Explorer shape speaks for itself and is enough, and your choice of woods, colors, and details result in an instrument where everything goes together and look striking without looking gaudy or cheap or strange. Hope it plays well. It looks great.

Oh, ok, we will let it pass this time, but if this inspires more people to build Explorers...

    Sapele can look nice.

Oh heck yes... I'm a Tele guy these days because of where I play (church), but when I was learning guitar at 15 it was all Metallica, so anything Hetfield still pushes all my buttons. Very nice guitar.

    Congratulations, it looks really great!
I’m building an explorer too! What did you use to do the body roundover? A router bit?

I used a 3/16” round over router bit.
