anyone had a samick (solidbody) tele....and what did you think...there is one on c-list nearby but not so near to view it without some time and effort etc...just wondering if it had /has nice fret finish....electronics can be remedied easily!

I have only had a yamaha tele (very nice!) and orig. fender usa in the 80's...

any input greatly appreciated

thanks

I do, I do! And I there are a few others around here. The Samick Tele is called the Formula. Mine is a dual HB, never seen another like it. They usually have 2 single coils, or an HSS layout.

Mine is actually very nice. Samick has produced guitars for some of the biggest names in the market. And they put out some excellent quality.

thanks....it doesn't say "formula" on headstock but i can tell by the pic the body is solid wood...so maybe good to go. How were the frets finished??? I have had too many korean guitars with sharp fretends.

I've never had to touch up the frets on this one at all. Unlike most of the Fender/Squier that I've owned. I live in a very dry climate so fret sprout is common even on brand new guitars, but my Samick has no problems.

I don't remember the model name being printed on any of the Samicks that I've seen. Mine has the newer funny headstock 3x3 (Gibson) instead of the older 6-inline (Fender), and has the Greg Bennett signature, and a big "S" instead of Samick.

Here's some info on the Samick site. Mine is more like the FA2, but 2 humbuckers.

I would say mine ranks in the MIM Fender quality. Actually better frets, prettier/nicer finish, Grover tuners.

Greg Bennett says-

There are more on Youtube, search for Samick, Tele, Formula, or FA.

Man!! I am totally jealous!!! I would love to have a Samick dual HB Tele guitar!! Ive been playing Samicks for years (my first one was the Blues Saraceno signature back in '93)

Ive had a Samick endorsement for a while now and there are so many guitar models they only made for a short time that I cant even get anymore, none are left anywhere at the factory so Im told. Ive got the Formula FA2 and love it but I actually disconnected the 2 lipstick pickups. I put a Duncan JB in the bridge and its just way too hot for the single coils to compete with volume wise so now the selector switch is just a toggle on/off switch.

Its a great guitar tho. Great neck, great frets, super low action. Very comfortable to play and very affordable!

The one I REALLY wanted to get that is out of production now is their short lived Tele/Les Paul model AV4. Its so bizarre its Cool as hell. Would've loved to have seen how it played.

Anyone whose interested in buying any Samick/Greg Bennett guitars, hit me up. I carry them at my Music School and can get a great deal for you. Im the only dealer in the DFW area of Texas and will beat any online retail price you can find. I just like seeing new people get turned on to them. Not in it to make much profit. They are great guitars!

There was one of these, in blue just like this one, at my Local music store. It was there for a couple of years. When I finally decided to buy it, it was gone.

I have a Valley Arts Concept and Design Ash tele. About as nice of a tele as I"ve ever owned. Plays and sounds excellent. I think it was made around 91 or so but could be wrong on that. I think it is the earlier version of the VA series of guitars though. The fella I bought it from said there is something about the logo and how they are labeled that denotes when they were made. thanks

I had one several years ago, but sold it. It was an exceptional guitar, but I just couldn't bond with the headstock shape.......

The fretwork was very good, and the pickups were exceptional. Pots and switch were as you would expect - not great, but workable, and easy to swap out. All in all, a very servicable instrument.

I picked mine up really cheap ($75) and flipped it in about 2 weeks for $125...

I have the identical guitar. Except mine still has the original "Duncan Designed" humbucker and my Lipsticks are still active. I really like it.
