New Samick member here. garage sale Silvertone strat for 30$. Im rebuilding it into a Robbie Robrtson strat using some Lace Sensors ive had around since 1987. 2 wired in series at the bridge and a single at the neck....no middle pickup with a three way switch. its Black....yuk!....The neck is great.....very nice with a good setup which I did as soon as I got it home.

New to the forum and have a question. Has anyone tried to get help from Samick I asked because I have tried a lot of times in the last two weeks and no answer.

I bought my guitar from a guitar shop in the Uk which no longer sell Samick. Have contacted the UK distributor and they will not honour the 10 year warranty I have had
my guitar 9 years. I have also sent a messages to you last week Samick Europe and
have had one reply. They said to contact Samick Global so have done that and no answer.

Problem: I have a Greg Bennett Torino TR2 and where the neck heal joins the body is showing cracks so I presume the neck is about to come off the body at some point so have loosened off the strings to prevent any further damage. Had the guitar about 9 years and like it a lot even if the with the sustain not good above the 14th fret.

I had a Samick for a little while in the mid 90's.
Looked (and wieghed) just like a Less Paul Custom.
The head said "Morris" in abalone inlay. Tech I had set it up told me it was a Samick.
It was given to me by this crank dealer that hung around this bar I was doin a solo gig in. He said that said he got it in trade for, well, ya know, but he didn't know how to play, and he liked my playin, so he gave it to me. Free.

It Played Great! I really liked that guitar.

here is my "The Samick" from the late 80's one of the 1st run of guitars when they got the Gibson contract.
I bought this guitar in Lexington Kentucky in the early 90's and have been offered very good price for it, I will never sell this guitar.
I have never played any Gibson Les Paul's that felt this good.
The neck is thin, the frets are bigger, i have been trying different variations of pickups, and i'm digging the sound of the HB single coil by Seymour Duncan.
I have a 1980 Marshall JMP MK2 50 watt / Marshall 1960a 4x12 cab, and i have a Line 6 Spider IV 75 for at home.

Here is a little article i found on the Samick Company

Samick is the largest guitar manufacturer in the world and they build guitars for many major brands. During the late 80's & 90's they built guitars for Gibson. This is an amazing Les Paul built by Samick during that era when Samick was commissioned to build Les Pauls for Gibson under their direction and using their guidelines. This is a very early model, (possible prototype). Later models have block lettering and simply said "Samick". After Gibson moved manufacturing to China, Samick was told to change the design and was no longer able to build guitars with these exact specifications. This model has a unique headstock script logo. The absolute most identical Les Paul to a Gibson I have ever played. It stands to reason since Samick was the only company (at that time) under the direction of Gibson. It is an industry known fact that Samick took some of the models right off the assembly lines and simply added The Samick brand to sell and market them for their company as an example of their workmanship.

From 1995, spent most of its life in the case in a closet, not played. This is the top ot their Artist Series, all solid wood with a carved top. Similar to the Gibson L5 Custom, which lists for a bit over $12, 300...
I also have an Artist Series SG/Les Paul copy that is the best SG I have ever played, also from around '95.

They make some great stuff.

Samick MFN-130 BLS

OK here she is Samick MFN-130 BLS a rare find was only made for 1 year 97-98 Ash body and Wilkinson trem, after a new set of strings, fret dress, a good clean and intonation and setup sounds just like I expected it would big clean and grunty cant beat a good p90 even better 3 of em. The whammy bar is just one I had lying around as it never came with one not really the right one but works ok for now I like the matt black pickguard with chrome p'90's I will do a youtube review soon on this one. I do know that Samick bought out Hondo and some of the earlier samicks looked just like Hondo gats the Hondos had Bill Lawrence pups so I wouldn't be surprised that these are BL's as they sound mighty. Made in Korea.

I have 3 of them...all great guitars!

Several years ago I bought an SG copy that turned out to be a Samick Artist Series from 1992, one of the best SG's I have ever played...it led me to get a Samick Artist Series jazz guitar, based on the Gibson L5 - also a first rate guitar (I did change the bridge and tailpiece) I later grabbed up a well used Samick Artist Series Les Paul type, a cherry sunburst withe a really nice and very thick flame maple top...They are ALL great players very good sounds and super values.
The only change I recommend for Samick guitars is the get rid of the gig bag and buy an good hard case for them-they deserve the best and they do get better with age.

Jazzmaster style Samick

I've got a Samick Artist Series LP...Actually I have 2 Samicks. If you look in the first pic, you'll see a Jazzmaster with P90s.

this is my first visit to the Samick Club and I'm happy to find ya'll. I discovered Samicks about four years ago and have since acquired...yes, "acquired"...three.

Samick is probably the best kept secret amongst guitarists...perhaps the musicians who must project an image have been shy to be seen playing anything but a big-name axe. However, many who should know, agree that Samick makes really solid quality guitars at reasonable prices. So I, uh, "acquired" three...

My favorite is the same model as Commodore's, in CAR. I referred to mine as a "Samick Jazzmaster knockoff" but finally found the model name. At least I think it's Samick-correct name is: JAD 25 MR

These were made in the 1990s and listed for $265 USD. A guitar dealer who used to sell Samicks had an old catalogue from 1996 and he gave me this information. Commodore, if you happen to have more info about this model, I'd be interested in learning more.

I got this guitar from a kid who was selling off his stuff to go to Africa to be a missionary. He said it had a big chip in the front. He had it listed for $80, so I gave him $100 and said, "Good Luck".

On my way home from the deal (I met him at a Chic-Filet), I decided to stop in at a shop near my house where I had seen a Samick Dealer sign. I figured i could get a whammy bar there. I walked in with this guitar and the guy behind the counter's eyes lit up. He says to me, "Are there two quarter sized dings on the back of that?". Oddly enough, there were (no pics of that though). So the guy goes on to tell me about how someone who used to work at that store really wanted it, as he was a big Pete Townshend fan. Right before he bought it, someone came in and bought it for his grandson, who promptly dropped it down the stairs (causing the 2 big dings on the back). The guy wanted to send it back to Samick as "defective".

HE, too had an old Samick Catalogue from '97, IIRC, that had my guitar in it. I'd liek to see the CAR version, TBH, I really didn't care for the purple burst over mismatched blocks of wood.. Anyways, I got a whammy bar for free and ended up taking lessons at that store for 3 years, and became friends with that guy, the manager of the store. He funnels old Samick guitars my way from time to time, usually low end strat copies or basses. One is a Ray Benson tele-style guitar, that's a real nice player. I do not have pics of that guitar, I let my boss borrow it shortly after i set it up.

As for the JD, I fret leveled it and set it up. It's a really nice player, it has a neck profile unlike any of my other guitars, I'd say it's shallow, D profile. The pickups sound like a good P-90 should and the stock tuners are nice and smooth and stay in tune. It really is a nice guitar. I'm in a band with that store manager. As you can imagine, many of us use Samick instruments in that band (there are 7 of us)--Two guys have Samick Royale (ES 335 copy) and both of those guitars are very, very nice, and sound great. Another member has a Torino (I think) the SG copy, it's also a nice guitar.

I'm also in another band, and they always laugh when I talk about my Samicks, but I just tell them they are cheap, fun and solid. As for my JD, I decided to do something about that ugly purple burst and chipped body. I painted it Wimbledon White (Duplicolor).

Huge fan here. Had and sold a Royale 5 that was easily in my top 10 guitars I have ever owned. Right now I have two left, virtually the same instrument save for the tailpiece; a Washburn Washington J9 and a Schecter J6. They are thinline, semihollow (there is a block under the bridge, 25.5" scale beauties.

Avion 7 from 2002

The Avion 7 is a gorgeous guitar. That headstock is one of the most artistic I've seen.

My only issue with Samick is contacting them ( I have three). The email I got from the JTRiboloff website (info@jtrguitars.com) does not work.

Anyone ever find a good contact?
