I figured Fender would revamp their Mexican-made vintage-inspired models this year and I was right. I’m hoping to add a 60s Stratocaster to pair with my Baja Telecaster (50s style), but I’d hoped maybe they’d make the choice more difficult for me by offering the venerable 69 Thinline Tele once again.

    Too bad.

I think that’s an overstatement based on a quick Reverb search.

    Plenty of third-party pickguards, sure.

Jeez you're right. I only found one on the bay. Over priced too!

I was looking as part of a build project a few months ago and there were a few for sale. The neck on the MIM '69s are supposed to be great (that's why I was looking).

Yeah, I search for them every once in a while and they’ve kinda stopped showing up now.

One of the best guitar/amp combos I have ever played was a 69 Thinline reissue into a 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue at Rudy’s in NYC. It was glorious. Had I not been a poor college intern at the time I’d have bought both on the spot.

WW just got a batch of '69 thin skins in. Black w/tort and nitro to boot.

If I was on the prowl I'd be all over one!

I saw those. If it was the natural mahogany or ash finish, I’d be tempted! Specs look great.

There’s a 69RI for $599 on the guitar center used site. And a sunburst classic player for $650.

I think it would have been nice to see a '69 thinline in that series, and a 83 elite perhaps?

Yeah about a year ago I was going to do a build for a two tone sunburst Thinline and there were a ton of bodies and necks on the Stratosphere.

When I finally had the money they had all vanished......................

AND they haven't seemed to have come back from wherever they went too.

    Ah me.

Me too: that is why I have pre ordered the new squier esquire.
Unfortunately the waiting time seems to bring me until November.
