I'm looking into possibly wiring up a Jaguar for a friend with a series option. I've been doing some reading and found some conflicting information.

One site said that if you wire up two pickups in series one must be RWRP from the other to make it work. Another source said they have to be wired the same direction. So what's the truth?

I did a tele with a series option (the 4 way switch) a few years ago and wound the the pickups so that they would be RWRP. So it must be the same, right?

    Thanks in advance.

RWRP is necessary for hum cancelation.

The only thing that would make it “not work” is if the are ground issues with covers or whatnot.

I’m not saying every combo would give you the sound your looking for but anything can be wired in series.

If one of the pickups isn’t RWRP the combo will be more vulnerable to hum.

In series you will get a volume boost but as @ScribbleSomething said without RWRP you will get noisy series, not humcancelling. As the Jag already has phase switch IIRC you should attempt to keep that.

Jags don't have a phase switch to the best of my knowledge.

Must admit I don't know about them. My old Mustang did, thought they were the same.
