I bought this Russian cap pistol (from a seller in Russia, no less) on eBay a month or two ago, and damn, if it didn't show up today.

For $35 yankee bucks, including shipping, what the hell, why not see if something actually finds its way to western South Dakota from southwestern Siberia.

It's obviously patterned after the classic Russian Nagant revolver, which is what attracted it to me in the first place, as well as the novel idea of just buying something goofy from Russia.

It came in a quite impressive mailing pouch that was fairly plastered with Russian postage stamps, while the cap gun inside was also very neatly padded and packaged.

I don't know what kind of metal it's made of, but it's super light, even for aluminum, which it might be, but doesn't seem like aluminum.

I'm actually shocked that the original packaging looks unmolested.

It's probably a light weight alloy of 'pot metal', but pot metal cap guns I've had before were heavier than whatever this stuff is.

According to the seller, it was made in 1992, so it's been around a while.

That so reminds me of the cowboy cap gun I had when I was 4 years old (57 years ago)!

The caps were on a small coil of paper tape. Not too much 'bang', but you could shoot several dirty -dozen bad guys without reloading!, including your little brother and the neighbours cat.

Oh, yes I know that would be frowned on now...hmm..

By the way, on the box it says 'toy revolver' and 'do not hold close to face when shooting'

The inflation of the ruble is pretty interesting to see: it originally cost 3.50, but it now has 450 rubles worth of stamps!

I figured the larger word above the barrel was 'revolver', but no idea what the rest said, thanks!

    Holy heck!
    That’s all the way out there...like RUSSIA-Russia

After these recent purchases have come to light I think its time to give your wife the credit card for “safe keeping”

I can’t imagine what goes on in the Backlund home with all these crazy toys and retro-future stuff

    Must be like DisneyLand!
