On the other side of the spectrum, caution is advised when listening to Al Green as there are several documented cases of spontaneous conception.

As if medical science hasn't progressed since RUSH.

Tool and The Mars Volta has since come on the scene with claims of higher contraceptive efficacy (acting on both sexes) and lower side effects.

I saw Rush on the Presto tour in the '80s, and then Vapor Trails, R30, and Snakes and Arrows tours in the '00s. (Vapor Trails show was the best setlist of all of them, by far.)

I noticed after the Vapor Trails tour, which was the tour that the Rush in Rio concert DVD came from, there were noticeably more women in the audience. That DVD was a big seller and must have won over a lot of guys wives. Or maybe the wives were enticed because they thought all those tanned, fit, shirtless, and dancing Brazilians that kept appearing on screen were representative of the Rush fanbase everywhere.

They must have been disappointed when they found themselves surrounded by thousands of clumsy, out of shape, sunburned schlubs.

Article has some good humor. I read some of the other articles by the same author. A little too much bias from her and McSweeney’s, but there are some strengths in her writing.

Nobody ever got lucky because Tom Sawyer came on the radio. Or 2112. Or Limelight. Or The Trees. Or...
The only people who ever got lucky at a Rush show was the band & the same 3 groupies that did every band that came to town.

Same here. Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston. Tickets were 12 bucks.

Their last good album, by the way.

Anyone else like their hard wood, hard rock Canadian cousins, Mahogany Rush?

I developed a strong dislike or Rush when I was in college and the guy across the hall played them loud all the time.

To be fair, he probably doesn't like Ted Nugent and Iggy and the Stooges today thanks to my countermeasures.

    They wouldn't dare.

McSweeny's has always been a haven for the funnest, most out-there lit and satire. Thanks for this.

The Ayn Rand thing just completely justified my total avoidance of their music in the past and for the rest of my life. Thanks!

Listening to Rush can’t explain the lengths my wife will go not to conceive. Her anti aphrodisiac is Streisand. At least it works that way on me.
