And my son-in-law is a die-hard Rush fan. Glad my grandkids are already born! ;)

Rush fan here (from the cited golden era), but holy wow this is gold. And brutal.

I saw them twice, Signals tour and 30 years later on Clockwork Angels. Didn't recognize a single song in the second set for the latter, and literally can't recall seeing one woman.

    Will I experience any discomfort?

    Yes.

The funniest part of the entire article. I lost my sh#t here.

I saw the Clockwork Angels tour in Philadelphia with my son-in-law. No females that I could see anywhere. Not even Ayn Rand.

True that - I recently stumbled upon an MP3 player loaded w/ albums of music outside of my happy rut.
I load one or two of the "new" (to me) records onto my phone for the 30-40 min walk to work and back home.

Last night and this morning - Rush Icon and Icon 2
Geddy Lee is a great bass player but I cannot abide the unique vocal style.

I recognize others are fervent admirers of Neil Peart (he may have been a prince of a guy) but I found the drumming "busy".
Alex Liefson - again - admired by many, and possibly a swell guy - ultra processed guitar tone not to my taste.

Can't imagine Rush as a soundtrack for getting laid.
That said, there's something for everyone and if you love the Canadian trio, more power to ya.

    Peace - Deeve

The whole thing is a riot. Could've only been written by a true fan. To wit:

The days around ovulation are when hormones peak. During this phase of your cycle, you will need to listen to the most baffling Rush selections. Mid-cycle, you’ll take any track in which a citizen of a hypothetical futuristic society discovers a banned quotidian object. In clinical trials, positive results were achieved with “Red Barchetta” and “2112: Discovery,” in which a car and a guitar are discovered respectively.

I've been sitting on this for a day, thinking about whether to re-post it here. This is brilliant, funny, sad, mean, true, all this. Very well done satire.
I linked it to every one of my friends who is a heavy Rush fan. I love Rush and have seen them many times, never with my wife, it's true. She'd say "yeah, go with your buddies".

My wife was delighted with the last Rush concert we went to. She came back after a break all happy: "I was the only person in the women's washroom!!"

Yesterday I spit my coffee when I read "Some women report feeling incredibly uncool." And this is comedy gold, "This is a serious and irreversible side effect called “sexism.” Women who experience this adverse reaction should call their doctor, all of their friends, and then post the entire exchange on Twitter."

I agree, only a fan could come up with this. Awesome read.

I know for a fact that if I had had Rush in the car stereo of my VW Beetle while I was dating my future wife I wouldn't even have gotten a second date. That is extreme preclusion.

    And now, for an interlude:

** edit, this really is an incredible piece of music, and the lyrics/content exchange always gets to me- it's emotional

The sad part is, even as a Rush fan, I didn't choose free will.

I'm pretty confident Rush is an effective form of birth control for plenty of men as well.

    Me after a dose of Rush . . .

This article is True... My wife’s 1st concert was Rush Moving Pictures Tour and we have seen them many times during our nearly 37 years together. We have “No” children!!!

    This is absolute genius.

In the seventh grade, I got into a fight with a Rush fan, when I told him that the line "All the world's a stage" was Shakespeare.

This dude told me it was Neil Peart, and even brought in the album to show me the song writing credits. "see *******" he said, "I told you it was Neil"
