Well it's this, or the Super Bowl .... Roy takes it without even making an appearance!

Not crazy about either, but I'm less crazy about Whitney, so Roy gets my vote

My choice was based on the skill each person had with singing. Who was the better singer, that's how I interpreted the question.

My choice is very easy, Whitney was by far the better singer, no doubt about that. Roy has got the votes and that's because he had the songs that resonated with the people the most. He had incredibly popular songs that sound timeless.

But in no way could Roy sing Whitney, how would he fare singing I Have Nothing. Nope, it would never happen.

I don't really listen to Whitney, it's not the style of music I'm in to. But I can't say I listen to Roy either, but his music and influence has crept into the music I dig far more than Whitney.

As great as Whitney sings, it's a new day and there will be more virtuosos and mega stars.

I have no doubt that Angelina Jordan will become a major star and considered one of the greatest singer's of all recorded time. I know that sounds like a nutty claim but I truly believe it. She's 12yrs old here singing Whitney.

And here is Angie singing at 7 years old in December, she won in January when she was 8. She's singing some note for note parts that came from Ella Fitzgerald and this reviewer saw that connection, me too, easy to hear Ella's influence. But I also hear Angie's own stamp on it.

And this shows that Angie at 11 can sing Elvis

Finally, this is her biggest performance at 13, it's the most watched, and will give you chills, read the comments and how many times "I got chills" get mentioned.

This girl is 15 today, signed to Republic Records as a priority artist, they want to capture her youth before she's no longer a youth. Lots of people going to get rich off of her lol.

Roy. No contest. His voice is delicate, plaintive, and with that lilting vibrato... and I grew up hearing it.

I always thought Whitney was a bit of a shouter OTOH. A lot of people who sing/sang that kind of music are too (Mariah, Celine, et al), but I just don't like the way it sounds and though I'm definitely in the minority, I hated her take on the national anthem (and the Dolly cover).

Reminds me of they large mural on Mactan island showing King Lapu Lapu spearing Magellan. Different importance to different audiences.

I would have preferred Roy Clark. I don't even listen to country, but that cat could cook!
