Can you get a different non-plunge base for that router? Back a few months ago, at HD here in the States, they had a combo unit with a plunge base, fixed base, and 2 collets (1/4" & 1/2" dia.) on a Bosch 2.5 HP router for $99. Maybe a fixed base for yours would get the depth of cut you need?

I tried getting a plunge base for my Bosch 1617 after the fact. The base would have been more than I paid for the router in the first place! :)
