'Motorcoach', otherwise known as a 'tour bus', not a motorhome. ;)

    .

The reason the RABs are safer is because they are new, anxiety producing for many, and attention grabbing. You don't dare talk on the phone, drink your coffee, or change the radio station -- you are engaged in that thing as much as watching the working end of a snow blower.

Get thirty years on RABs and people will drive without paying attention and the number of accidents will go up.

Fatalities go down because while you are not stopping, you slow down from 50 to 25mph, except when someone doesn't.

When autonomous vehicles become the new overlord, this is what you'll see. Makes me cringe a bit watching.

Having just returned from Italy, they work GREAT in Europe, not so much here. Kind of like driving on a beautiful Autobahn v. an Interstate here. "What? You want me to stay in the right lane unless passing?" Never, we're Americans after all. We have freedoms. ;^)

Now don't get me started on the state of European high speed trains.

This - Mt. Horeb - is 20 minutes away and it was no joke but seems better now that Duluth Trading's new HQ is there. I swear roundabouts help prove being average doesn't mean your'e 1/2 way smart.

Noice! Plus left side driving... I'd leave my car in the middle of it and run away without looking back.

We have roundabouts installed all around the place now, and they work a treat. Also got one of those diverging diamond intersections between Rt 95 and Rt 21, and although I first thought it was an insane idea, it has actually saved my sanity. They really work well. That civil engineer deserves a Nobel Prize for that idea.

There are three of them in 1.5 miles between the freeway and my office. There have been no accidents in years. They spring up in WI like bunnies. They do worry me.

My mom is 86 and when a Roundabout frightens here she stops right in the Roundabout to get her bearings. She/it scares the crap out of me.

I have scary thoughts about hearing bad news on radio about an old Bohemian woman who cracked up in an Audi A6 in a roundabout.

"MOM - you gotta keep driving mom!!"

They are popping up all over Missoula, MT. Yup, very safe, because everyone stops since they don't have any idea what to do. I think we were already asking the public a lot with the invention of the stop sign. The roundabouts are fine and work pretty well everywhere else in the world that I have driven, but since everyone here has been dumbed down ... it is and always will be total chaos. Just sayin'

I must admit, it is my favorite spectator sport, but I tend to keep moving my lawn chair back further from the intersection.:D:lol:

Out here we got motor homes same size as Merle's tour bus. Sometimes there's a jeep tied on behind!:)
