    Dang. So awesome.

The drummer of Band Maid is quite good, too. Don't let the costumes fool you.

    Track starts at 0:30

That second video is harder than I generally listen to but I quite liked it.

What's the deal with all these little Japanese girl drummers? There must be something in the water over there.:)

I once read a funny Youtube post that has stuck with me. It was a guitarist who wrote something like, "Every time I start to feel good about my playing, I come across a video of some anonymous Japanese kid who effortlessly plays circles around me."

Japan is an amazing place; the Japanese are amazing people. I always joke about how they do everything better: make better cars, better Fenders, better Gibsons, better toilets (for sure), better food...
And, joking aside, there's more than a grain of truth to it... (here is a left-field example:
I have a friend who got a complete root canal at a drive-in dentist in Tokyo, on the way to the airport, for like $50. Here it's a grand and three visits...)

They start early. Senri started playing drums in public at the age of 6. If you dig hard enough in YouTube you'll find a compilation video of her playing all the way to her early teens.

They're also a very disciplined culture all throughout. It's not unusual to see young kids standing patiently next to their parents in a queue for however long it takes without playing up.

Obviously talented, these kids' parents back it up with formal drumming education... the proper kind.

On some of Senri's jazz videos, studio or live - you'll see a music score on her left and she reads it every now and then. I mean, who does that these days? So does that mean she can repeat that performance perfectly every time??

An oh, then there's the water... ;)

So professional, even in the studio... and so humble too at the end.

KAMPAI Senri, all power to you!

First time i saw one of their vids on youtube, i thought they'd sound like one of those generic cutesy kawaii girl groups.

    Then they started playing.
