I've been looking at these teles and strats at rondo music... who has played/owned one and which ones are even good? If any? Was thinking about buying one and changing pickups and maybe a few other mods if its worth it?

I've got an SX tele copy.It's chinese made,pots,switches are cheap chinese junk,For a modding platform they're great.They make Squires look like quality instruments! mine is a B stock,but played o.k. out of the box.Fender parts don't fit without some work.They are one of those" it's not bad for the money" kinda things,and the money isn't much!

You will probably get some negative responses on this one.I've had no issues whatsoever.The first thing is to change the strings,and you may find you can live with the stock pickups for awhile.

I bought one of the basic Strat-types for $79 out of curiosity, because people had been raving about them. I feel that I got what I paid for.
However, I used the body (nothing else) to build a terrific partscaster!

they are only good for parts, and the parts off a fender don't fit.
they have a strange sized neck pocket, one of the ugliest headstocks on the market today, nad ABSOUTLEY CRAP hardware....
look, at the price they sell for, buy one yourself and make your own opinion...

+1, I had to modify the neck pocket a bit to get my MIJ Fender neck to fit.

I suggest you do a search for them on this forum before dismissing them as junk. The older ones (before the ugly headstock era) are worth the price just for the neck and body - especially the "pre-Furian" Teles. There are plenty of threads discussing their relative merits - check them out.
