I have an opportunity to trade an amp for a Ron Kirn Barnbuster. Here is some info on it:

Ron Kirn Barnbuster
52 AVRI Hot Rod dimensions
Rosewood board
Old pine body with black satin nitro finish
Black guard
Full size Seth Lover in neck
Kirn pup in bridge

I know zero about his guitars. Can someone fill me in. I have a vintage 52 tele reissue that I love. I adore the neck and the tone. Another tele would be a good thing!!

If you do a search, there are entire threads about Mr.Kirns guitars, very highly regarded. He's even a member of this forum so you can ask him directly.

Never had the pleasure but conventional wisdom is they are superb instruments. Ron is very passionate about guitars. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

While you're waiting for Ron to get back, you could try the Advanced Search function here at TDPRI. Just enter terms like Barnbuster, Ron Kirn and you'll get a cascade of information.

Ron's got a big presence here; he's got ways of explaining things that not every forum prince is going to like. He's willing to put his opinions out there, to try and push back on some of the mythology, so some people are obviously going to have sparred with him. But I think everyone here knows this guitar is liable to be real impressive. It is a sort of a "series" model as opposed to a custom one off (he does both) but that would have to be the amp from Heaven for this trade not to be a real easy one to justify.

Every Barnbuster I've seen a pic of is beautiful and unique. Everyone who has played one says the build quality is excellent. I hope to own one some day. That and a Canadian Breed Bill Scheltema built guitar.

Love my barnbuster.. Check Ron's website for the story about these guitars.. PremierGuitar magazine has a great article about him too.

I played one briefly and it was a superior instrument. Probably still is ;)

They are rubbish.

PM me for a deal to take it off your hands if you are unlucky enough to own one.

My philanthropic side,if you like.

actually, I'd putter across the Irish Sea, to Jura or Islay for a spot of that Single Malt nectar they are known for..

Go for it, love mine. And with the bucker in the neck it would make a nice addition to your 52RI, would cover some extra bases.
