Nice story Ron. Like all your stories.

No point in pushing the buggy whip industry with cars & whatnot.

Some of these posts make it sound like you died or something, glad that's not the case. Looking forward to more words of wisdom in the future.

Ron, thanks for being Ron. I'm no builder, in fact....I didn't even know about your templates! But I've gassed for one of your guitars for a long, long time now :)

nah not dead yet,, I'm still seeing the green side of the grass... however the Doc does say I'm dying... i only have maybe 30 years left if I'm lucky, and then only if I give up yummie food, cigars, chasin' wemin, hot, fast cars, trying to understand "Progressives" logic (oxymoron there), no siiffin' lacquer or hardwood sawdust, and give up single malt scotch...

I asked 'im, what the **** do I wanna live 30 years like that for... sounds more like a sentence...

Yea but Ron's original vintage templates have mojo that is transferred to any tele produced from them. I can hear the difference....[emoji6]

Thanks Ron. Your videos, template, book and common sense approach were instrumental in giving me the confidence to produce a guitar for my daughter and a tele for myself. Much appreciated.

Thanks for all your advice and help Ron, especially on fret finishing.
I never knew about the templates, but I wished I had got a pair, it would have been lovely to make some bodies from my own choice of lumber:)

I got a set of the Thin line templates. I had thought about the Jazz and the Strat recently.
Thank you Ron and Tell Pierre thanks!

I'm still amazed to be a beneficiary of all of the great knowledge that Ron has chosen to share. I stumbled through a tele build using the T Downs drawing and building my own templates from it. It made me appreciate all of the crazy good luthiery that goes on here.

I know I've thanked ROn in threads like this before, but Ron, your Fret Leveling Tutorial is something I'm so very grateful for...at least a dozen times a year.

Well, I'm sorry I didn't get around to buying a template set but to be honest I didn't know they were even available. I've read lots of RK advice and how-to's and I even stumbled upon the guitar building and setup PDF before I connected it to the Ron Kirn here. Now I'm just feeling a bit dense.

Anyway, that's a great story and nice bit of history. I too recall the turtle, boogie bodies and the ads in the back of guitar player magazine. I still have some of my collection that goes back to about 1978. I'm glad you aren't going anywhere, anytime soon and damn, those are some nice guitars on your website. If I weren't up to my eyeballs in guitar building project, I'd be seriously looking at your guitars.

    Ron,

I purchased one of your Jazzmaster body and routing templates this year to modify a Chinese Fender Modern Player HH. I am planning to use it later to build my own Jazzmaster creation. I also received your telecaster building book with my purchase. Regrettably I did not purchase the Jazzmaster neck template at the time.

    http://shortscale.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=63242

I've made my own pickguard templates, so I Have a great appreciation of the work and time that goes into making templates.

Thanks for your efforts and contributions,

    :)
