Here are a couple of videos I did with my Rist Workhorse II, which is an all-mahogany, 2-P90 guitar. Roman Rist also makes killer Tele-style guitars (there are some clips on YouTube), although he doesn't get particularly much discussion on this forum.

Roman does custom orders, and he does not rush through them. Can't tell you the precise turnaround time -- I expect it to vary with the model. Mine was something around 6 months. You'll have to ask him about price. But I'll say this -- they are an excellent value for a totally custom-built, hand-carved instrument.

He also does amazing repairs and restorations. If you want to find out more about him you can go to the My Les Paul forum. He's a frequent poster over there.

Thanks GEN DAWG. I normally build my own stuff other than my PRS's but I have a nice tax return coming this week and I want to treat myself to something built by someone else for a change. I have gas for once. I will look into a Roman Rist. I was leaning towards a used McNaught I found for a good price but that WHII you posted looks & sounds great. :)

Thanks Trow, The Les Paul Forum? You have a link to one of his threads? Thanks.

Here's a long thread about the Workhorse. Give Roman a shout.

Rist is quite a character over on MLP. He builds some really nice guitars too, and evidently has a long and colorful history as a guitar tech.

Mine does not have a scalloped nut, but I know he will do those (obviously, he did!)

Somebody mentioned Roman's work as a tech. He was one of the go-to techs on the Sunset Strip in the '80s, and he worked with just about everyone you've heard of from that period. Legend (I believe it's actually true) is that he set up Slash's mystic not-really-a-Les-Paul for the Appetite for Destruction sessions. He can tell you a lot of great stories from back in the day. The dude knows his stuff.
