For a group of guys that were - for a time - cutting edge, they've aged into boring and predictable real damn fast.

One man's opinion, but the Stones have, functionally, been nothing more than a brand since I was in high school (the 80s) and haven't put out a good record since I was seven (Some Girls). A big stadium tour every few years, the odd tell-all book, a live concert on pay per view or DVD. If this is 'only rock and roll,' I hate it, hate it (yes I do).

But hey... let the tourists go mad. I'm sure I've dropped money on garbage purchases while on holiday. Still pretty gross.

They may paint the front door black.
They've wanted to do it for decades.

How very rock'n'roll. Object, meet defeat.

The only thing that rolls is the eyes , the rest certainly doesn't rock.

+1 on "Some Girls" being the last good R.S. album. They are a brand, and I give them credit for their successful marketing. They are kind of like KISS without the makeup.

KISS did do this first. There were 4 across Canada in 2013 to push their tour. They had lots of merch I'd never seen, including a pack of air-guitar-strings. Didn't buy 'em :D

As an aside, Paul Stanley is the real leader of the brand and the biggest on merch/promo. Gene doesn't mind the attention, though. :p

And people wonder why some of us are cynical about the Stones.

A few years back I posted that the Stones were now nothing more than a bunch of t-shirt salesmen. I could have bottled the vitriol I got in reply.

Then I could open up a shop and sell it . . .

    C'mon folks, get over it.
it's better to see a shop open up than another one closing down, no?
    which band doesn't sell merch?
where can you buy merch when there are no touring bands?
this is part of a record contract with Universal Music Group. Bravado, who run this business, was bought by Universal in 2007.

What is the background of Bravado and the UK arm?

Bravado first began trading over 40 years ago, predominantly providing services to bands for their live touring activity. In recent years, the company has evolved rapidly to serve a broad range of music, entertainment and brand clients across creative projects, licensing and retail partnerships.

How would you best describe Bravado and what you do as a business?

We have grown and expanded dramatically since being bought by Universal Music Group, the world leader in music-based entertainment in 2007. These unique capabilities make us the leading provider of music merchandise and brand management services. We have an incredible roster of artists and brands signed directly to Bravado, and we exist at the crossroads of music and fashion, helping those artists to bring their creative vision to life, by helping to deliver innovative product across four key channels of distribution – live, retail, licensing and e-commerce. Outside of music, we also work with some of the world’s most dynamic and creative brands to license their properties and products worldwide and with Bravado teams based in over 40 counties, we are a truly global business

Seriously though, I think they missed a trick not having some horrific priced high ticket items like custom shop guitars etc. COA signed by Keith, etc. They wouldn't need to sell anything, just good shop get up
