The guitar was played through an MXR Phase 100...I don’t know the settings, though.

I’d think any phaser and overdrive combo would get you close enough. Keef isn’t known for precision set ups.

When my friends and I were younger, we’d use lyrics from this song to locate each other if we got separated, kinda like “Marco Polo”...

    “Shadooby!”
    “Shattered, Shattered!”

It confused 99% of the people around us...but most of what we did back then confused 99% of the people around us, so...

Oh the memories. This was played every day at noon on our HS cafeteria jukebox for about 6 weeks straight.

I doubt anyone caught the meaning in rural northern Indiana. I sure didn’t.

We used to play this song in my very first band in high school. Our guitar player had a Small Stone. It sounded close enough for a bunch of 14 year olds.

Found some information in the Rolling Stones Gear book. As others have posted, for "Shattered" from "Some Girls" incidentally inspired by the Punk movement happening in the UK at the time, Keith used MXR Phase pedals. SG is one of my fav Stones albums (the 70s era being their best IMHO).

Oh, one more tidbit about Shattered. It was banned on some radio stations after 9/11 due to lyrical content.

I use a Phase 45 and it seems to nail it pretty well.

I think it's one of the only tracks where you can hear Keith using any kind of effect.
