This build kind of answers to all those tonewood discussions...
I'm very impressed. Should I start a build with the body carved out of rock? The kind that is used in garden walkways etc.

I'm happy that this worked out. Excellent!

Thanks! I say go for it! :D

BTW, you wanna hear something kind of crazy but off topic?... I've had this crazy idea floating around in my head for the past couple of days. For some reason the idea of moving to Finland has been intriguing me lately :D

Wow, you gotta have a real good reason to do that! :)
I don't know what's your profession, but I hope it's not related to mobile phones, as that business is really going down around here (just check Nokia stock price development)

I was in cell phones for about 10 years but I'm glad I got out. That's not an industry I care to be in anymore. The main things I've done are sales, management, business consulting and business development. I'd want to move to get away from it though. I've toyed with the idea of going back to school and getting into CAD design or graphic design. I don't get to use nearly enough of my artistic side in what I'm doing now. That's why I enjoy building guitars so much

Last year I set a goal for myself to learn the whole song. I would work on it for a month and then record myself at the end of the month. The idea was to have a video journal of my progress through a full 12 months. Well, I got 3 months done and then stopped. I had good excuses about not having the time to work on it, but the truth was that the next section just started kicking my butt

Roger, just awesome. Absolutely Awesome. Loved the second video.

Don't forget to do your necessary close-out notifications, etc. It would truly be a tragedy to get disqualified because you forgot to say, "OK, I'm done now."

Thanks, Rick. I actually just got home from doing my "beauty" shots. Uploading pics to photobucket as I type this, and I should have my final post done shortly.

Thanks all the kind words along the way, and I'm really looking forward to seeing yours done finally. That red you got is pretty slick!

Thanks so much, everyone! I can't tell you how much the encouragement meant to me during this build. The camaraderie here was incredible! There are so many beautiful and innovative guitars being built this year, that I feel honored to have had the chance to be a part of it. You guys are all awesome, and my hat is off to you.

    Now to tie everything up...

    Specs
Lightweight concrete body - home mix using perlite as the aggregate.
    Mahogany neck w/ walnut fretboard
    Mortar mix fret markers
    GFS Vintage Nashville Retrotron pickup
    GFS Tuners
    GFS Bridge
Diamond Plate aluminum pickguard and control cavity cover
    Lag Screw strap buttons
    Bone nut
    Weight = 12.5 lbs

Special thanks to my SME :D. Tom Pollock (tapollack here on the forum) pm'd me after he saw the problems I had with the neck pocket, and offered some advice. It turns out that he does cast concrete for a living, so it was his recommendation to use the Henry 547 Unipro to patch the neck pocket. I really think that's what helped it to hold so well.

I've made so many new friends during this challenge, and that's worth way more than any prize. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you, guys. I truly appreciate the nice words. I just got back from band practice at the church, and I took the Industricaster so my worship leader could check it out. He liked it so much that he's going to play it on Sunday :D. That's a pretty big deal for me that he liked it because he was a professional touring musician for a while. I'm so stinkin' pumped
