IIRC correctly, that's Woody singing because Rod blew them off.

"Every Picture..." will always be my favorite, but I admit "Sailing" and "You're In My Heart" are guilty pleasures.

He also did a recording under the name of Monte Lee Python or some such.
An old girlfriend recognized it and pointed it out to me back in the day (from a K-Tel record or some such)
I'd love to know what it was but she isn't speaking to me anymore.

I’ve been up and down with Rod over the years. Certainly his earlier stuff stands out, but yes, Young Turks was a fine song.

My all time favourite would have to be this. The guitar solo absolutely rips IMO.

Far as I'm concerned, Mr Stewart has well earned his place on top of the pile.

In think it was Steve Van Zandt who talking about Rod and mentioned that very fact, that it was one of the most prolific eras by an artist ever.

Still my favorite of his. I saw him about five times with the Faces and then on a solo Greatest Hits tour. Absolutely hated the disco sexy/spandex shaking his ass period. Still in my top three of favorite singers.

I've got the Jeff Beck albums 'Truth' & 'Beck-Ola', and they stand up very well. However, as a Brit of a certain age, whenever I think of Rod, the spandex-wrapped melons phase comes to mind. Whenever that happens, a trigger is pulled as this flashes back...

it's interesting how a phase of a career can poison the well so thoroughly.

It all went pear shaped when he signed to Warner Brothers.

Rod may have "blown" it on some artistic level, but I think the guy is still a good, grounded sort of bloke.

He may have chosen a later career path, most suitable for a giant p*ick but he never became that p*ick in my estimation.

As for his early stuff, he can do no wrong. As for the later stuff, I make an effort not to listen to it. I would rather listen to him give an interview and maybe I would like to have a beer with him. He made some career choices which artistically don't work at all for me - but I know it may have helped keep this fellow alive and that's important to me.

If Steve Marriott could have stayed alive by beginning to sing Engelbert Humperdinck and Neil Diamond songs, I think I would have accepted that easily, over what happened instead.

This video makes me smile. It is intimate and the people playing with Rod are top notch.
    Bravo!
