Well, you nailed me. I'm not a dentist, and aspire to be an aging rockstar:

    Sunburst
    Sunburst
    Butterscotch
    Arctic white
    Natural

My bass is wine stained though, but that probably doesn't count to be a rockstar.:D

Black, Oly White, Desert Sand/Butterscotch, Sunbust and old Gibson cherry dominate.

No greens, blues, racing stripes or anything fancy.

My ebony Les Paul looked absolutely killer on pics from last gig. Simply class.

Think people make lots of choices.. the stage look, showing off, modest, etc.

I'm a sucker for surf green but NEVER see them on Fenders except vintage and CS relics.....

    Not a dentist...

Jake- Plank wall won’t stop no 50 caliber bullet.

Gus- No but a Dentist will.

Gus- Nobody likes a Dentist anyway.

I always think "dentist guitar" when I see the LPs with some vivid turquoise/green flame maple top...."berry burst" is one that comes to mind.

I spent over 30 years as a performing musician.

I've never selected a guitar on appearances. The only criteria that mattered was how it felt and how it sounded. To which end, when a likely candidate would emerge, I would haul an amplifier of mine into the shop for a listen ... at stage volume. I didn't care what it looked like.

Oh...and I am the son of a dentist.

ETA: unless it's a tone color. Tone color changes everything.:D

It ain't what colour it is that counts, it's how many dinks it has, how often it's been played onstage, how many beer / blood / pee-soakings it has had, how many bones and hearts it's broken that count. Dentists' guitars have very few of these features.

I am a CPA: seafoam green, dakota red, three-color burst, two-color burst, black, butterscotch, and natural. You know, to make up for the expected lack of personality.

I feel OP may be on to something. I wonder if any of these studies have ever established a correlation between guitar color and suicide.

Surely dentists would only go for white veneered archtops.

Where does an engineer fit on the spectrum between dentists and rockstars?

    If it helps,

    Agave Blue metallic
    Goldtop
    Wine Red

I’ve also heard that they prefer deep cavities for their pickups.

I would rather have a dentist work on me if I had a toothache, than even a really good Rockstar.

    .

Real rock stars buy their gear at pawn shops already with Relic features because they were cheap. \Mojo/ Color trends are Black, White, and Red, which can be spray paint colors over top of whatever pawn shop color it started with.

"Dentists" prefer new guitars with no scratches and complain about seeing relic guitars .. a few will pay extra for fake relic work.

I'm not really a dentist but I play one on TV and, real or not, on behalf of all dentists and dental hygientists worldwide we've had enough of your jaded, senseless bias. Everyone knows we care about tone only not color. It's the periodontists that are into the matching accessories.
