Followed the last years build challenges I guess these will be 8 funny weeks.
'Cause I take it as a personal challenge to make my own pickup I decided to participate in this category.
If there is enough time left I'll try a Staple P90.
My plans for this guitar: simple, but with a few funky extras.

So, the shop is cleaned, the spray booth is prepared and the wood is waiting...

Let's go and good luck to all!

That's the spirit! Big fan of the funky extras myself. Best of luck with it!

Awesome, rock dog. I'm a big fan of the guitars you've posted on MLP, and with you in the challenge, we're in for some steep competition.

You just reminded me of the big pile of sawdust and cutoffs that are under my table saw. I should probably think about some cleaning before I start too.

I'm not sure if a clean shop is in the rules... good luck!

Ok, here are the pics of the raw material and a few specs of my project:

    - Mahogany body w/ maple top
    - laminated maple/rosewood neck
    - ebony fretboard
    - Steel fretwire
    - pure Tele beauty without a pickguard
    - inlaid top
    - nitro finish

Damn, I have to build the guitar as fast as I can, normally I need a couple of weeks for the paint job alone, we'll see if I can finish it on time...

Some pearloid inlay and hardware stuff

Ok, I was going to make some smart-alec crack about a clean shop and then I see a guitar started...

gotta get busy, gotta get busy.

Thanks for the kick in the pants!

Backplate done, ebony of course, I like it better than the plastic ones.
Happily I had a leftover piece of a fretboard that I could use.

Leveled the center seam of the top and glued it together. One of the things that I wanted to do on day 1.

I swear the top is somewhere under this mess of clamps...

Pearloid pickguard sheet. Hmmm, pickguard? Not on this guitar, I'll only use it for some inlay stuff. After some brainstorming I figured out the inlay design and started to cut it tonight, oh well, eight weeks are too short to build a guitar only by daylight, right?

The inlays (yes, I put binding all around the stars, even on the tiny ones, call me crazy but it looks a bit nicer).

    The finished inlays.

    More to come.

Ultra-classy, putting the bindin around the inlays. Looks great.

Umm.. you do know that the "quickest build" was in last year's challenge...

Yikes! I thought I was doing well to get a few benches cleared.

    Excellent start and nice work!
