I like how they tastefully cloned some of the process....the ‘backwards delay’ for the vocals for example...and yet maintained
an honesty. Santana takes strong cues from what Page did, but Carlos makes the solos his own and proves that he can rock hard if he wants. The first time I heard this I did not know to whom I was listening...it came up in a rotation. But.....the guitar solo made me take notice because it was at once familiar and yet new. I have never heard Carlos Santana play quite this way, and I have been an admirer of his olay8ng for over 5 decades now! Rock on indeed!!!
Ms. Smyth does a credible job on the vocals, but I think Chris Cornell is in another league. As for the guitar work, that cut from Letterman just cannot compare to the Santana cut, imho.
