He usually plays rhythm guitar for Cheap Trick But I felt like showing the picture sleeve of their greatest hits CD, which shows him with a yellow Fender Telecaster (and Rick Nielsen appropriately playing a Rickenbacker)

Rick Nielsen is also known to collect Fender Telecaster guitars (given his extremely sizable guitar collection!)

Robin Zander has also been known to play a few Martin D28, Ovation and Guild 12 string acoustic guitars, a Fender Stratocaster and a Rickenbacker guitar. I did own the Greatest Hits CD, but chucked it at some time.
I do, however, own Dream Police on record. I acquired it from my parents when they were downsizing.

There are plenty of good pictures of Robin Zander playing the Fender Telecaster. He owns a sunburst Fender Telecaster as well.

What I mostly want to know is when did he acquire his 1st Fender Telecaster, what tracks did he use it on, does he still own them? Please let me know.

    Love me some Cheap Trick!

Had the pleasure of being in an opening band for them back in the day when I lived in Florida (Robin's stomping grounds), and they were so chill and fun to be around. Rick is great, packs a lot of guitars on stage, most of which are not used... but if the moment inspires, his crazy iconic guitars are grabbed for show antics. Pros with great music.

Hamer guitars are in the Rick mix.

And don’t forget about the 12 string bass Tom Petersson and Jon Brant played, and the Gibson Electric Mandocello That Rick Nielsen played. Rick Nielsen also played a lot of different 1959 and 1960 sunburst Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitars, one of which was given to him by Geddy Lee Of Rush.
Rick Nielsen also played bass for a time, and he and Robin Zander alternated On keyboards.
Steve Lukather Of Toto played the uncredited guitar solo on Voices, a session he was paid $1500 allegedly to play.

Kinda refreshing seeing them with vintage style guitars.

And aside from the fact that Cheap Trick sang the theme song to That 70s Show, they also appeared in the movie Daddy Day Care and the song Surrender was also featured on the soundtrack.
Lindsay Lohan did a cover version of I Want You To Want Me, but it’s not very good. And there is a movie that has I Want You To Want Me on its soundtrack.

I think Cheap Trick is a very influential band. Bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Nirvana, Panic At The Disco would never have been started if not for their music.

Don’t forget Heaven Tonight and In Color! Fantastic albums! I’ve been on a Cheap Truck Bender for a couple years now. Great band! “You’re all talk” still throws me with that greasy country lick.

My brother used to say "Cheap Trick is everyone's 5th favorite band." Kind of sums them up, no? I do like a lot of their stuff. They were brilliant on "Live From Daryl's House".
