I always thought the Doors sucked. Could never get into them.

Well, lots of people here think the same about stratocasters.... He's not allowed to have a preference also?

    More for us!
Robbie’s cool, and writes a cool tune.
    He’ll learn.
    Eventually.

Coming from someone who prefers SGs, where the neck weighs as much as the body.

    People Are Strange.

With the Doors he played an SG and had a pretty good sound (for that type of material).

But, a long time ago I had an SG and never really liked the sound(s) or it's playability.

It always farted out in the higher registers.

    And a Strat?

They're OK... but a Tele is better.

    IMHO.

I think Robbie's pretty cool and carved himself a somewhat unique spot in rock history. I loved the Doors as a kid, but don't go out of my way to listen much any more. Who cares what he prefers?

I find Strats really comfortable on the body, and versatile to boot. I even have one. Deal at $300.
The Telecaster is my main guitar though.

He's not dissing it, he's just stating his choice in guitar comfort/playability.

I love a Tele, but my Strat is my #1 gig guitar, as it is more comfy, more sounds ( stock on both) and a whammy- which I use.
So you play what you like!

I'd be jealous too if my neck pickup wasn't under the second harmonic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyone can play a Strat, or an SG, but a 3 saddle Tele takes good playing time to get to know and appreciate it, and some tweaking, then you’re hooked. There’s nowhere to hide with a Tele. And life isn’t perfect either.

I used to be a fairly exclusive SG player until I became a fairly exclusive Tele player, which did not come easily. I had to kinda rethink everything - string gauge, pick gauge, and clean up my playing. When I got my first Tele I played that and only that for about a year to force myself to get accustomed to it. So very glad that I did.
