Big Deadhead and love Robben Ford. Admittedly, I never dug into the Phil & Firends, Rat Dog, etc stuff. But wow, I just discovered this live show on YouTube and it’s amazing (quality is poor)

Is there any quality audio out there?

How about Bill Frisell with Phil and Friends!

Link provided but a very tough listen! The keyboard player and other guitarists hog every single space and basically won't shut up enough for Frisell to get a note in edge wise. Phil just lets the cacophony steam roll over any lines Frisell tries to weave through. At least for the bits I could handle.....

Missed opportunity. Should have been a trio Phil, Bill and drummer and coulda been magic

Can you imagine being onstage with Bill Frissell and drowning him out with your own playing? You've really got to have a messed up ego to do that!

Some Phil and friends are GREAT! Some are horrendous. The one with Joan Osborne and John Scofield is my favorite. the one with Carlos Santana and Warren Haynes was a MESS! (and Haynes is my favorite musician on the planet...)

I didn't think that was Robben Ford's kind of music groove. It certainly ain't Blues.

Yeah, I thought the same, but it pretty amazing IMO. Help/Slipnot is exceptional and Robben fits so well.

I don't know how you guys do it. Hour and a half, three and a half hours of the same song. I'm not posting to knock the Dead sound, I've got Telluride tickets and trying to get an appreciation for Phil Lesh before I get there. Hopefully, something will click for me live.

Don't worry, occasionally Phil does an 8 minute song. :D

Lebo is one of the guitarists with Bill and Phil. He’s notorious for playing over everything. Nice guy, he’s just like my brother Mike, who thinks he’s Glenn Gould on B3.

Actually, I've found some vids that I like and am hoping he doesn't go into Dead jam nausea.

It's all good, though,Telluride is a great experience and there will be plenty of music for everybody.

    Haha!

You'll be lucky if you get "Dead jam nausea"!

There are some great Phil And Friends shows with Jorma Kaukonen and Steve Kimock. They do an awesome version of "Good Shepard." I haven't heard the Robben Ford stuff yet.

Also check out "Further" with Bobby and John Kadlecik. There are some great YouTube videos, especially the one recorded at TMI. I wish that band was still touring or that the current Dead and Co. had that John playing guitar!
