I love playing my 52HR but you don’t see many around. Not sure why.

Question answered....one was posted on local CL, asked seller and response was a previous owner had added the pickup. According to the pics in the ad, control panel was also switched. Looks pretty much like a reliced hot rod Tele with the controls flipped. Tempting.....

I read somewhere that Fender had recently done a limited release of a 52 with a 59 neck humbucker but it had some special dual rated pots for the vol and tone controls. So the bridge single coil was always wired against a 250k pot even when pickup selector in middle position, and same for the neck humbucker against a 500k pot. This apparently completely solves the output imbalance problems you otherwise have to deal with. So that could be a potential mod . . .

I'd like to do the same thing. Which Squier model did you use?

I added an SD mini to my Squier CV50 blonde, and put an Area Hot T in the bridge. They balance great. Then I replaced the Squier neck with a Roadworn neck. So now it's more a partscaster than anything else. After much experimentation I went with 250K pots. Maybe its that CV50s pine body, but it's plenty bright.

It's a vintage modified SSH, already had a mini HB in the neck, a a Strat pickup in the middle. I've removed the middle, put a Texas special in the bridge.. Need a new pickguard to tidy it up IMG_20190623_131433.jpg

I have a Gibson mini-humbucker in the neck of my Paisley Tele, and a Nocaster pickup in the bridge. They sound great together! The only difficulty was changing polarity in the humbucker, since the two pickups were originally out of phase in the middle position.

Yes, I'm trying to find the time (and the bravery) to attempt this as well

This wiring scheme has been touted around here forever. It's pretty common.

I know I've posted this many times so forgive me.

I balance the neck humbucker and single coil bridge pickup by removing the humbucker from the tone pot entirely and setting it low underneath the strings because it has more volume.
Setting the tone (for the birdge pickup) a little dialed back provides a perfect balance of pickups.

BTW I've a MIM Road Worn "Taxman" Hot Rod ltd edition and has Nocaster bridge and Seymour Duncan 59 in the neck. I posted it here

I have not come across a Road Worn (MIM) Tele with a mini-humbucker in the neck. The USA American Vintage Hot Rod was the one with the Mini hummer

I just installed a low wind (7.3k) A4 humbucker in the neck and a Mojotone "Quiet Coil" Broadcaster pickup in the bridge of my Fender Professional Tele. I have the bucker set real low in the guard and raised the pole pieces to get a bit more treble. FYI, I'm using 500k pots.

I think that Fender did have a neck humbucker Roadworn but it was a dark red color. The obvious thing would have been to offer a blonde Roadworn with an HS configuration for I pseudo Mckawber but silly Fender never did. They would rather create crapocasters with configurations from Bizarro world.

It works for me. The A4 magnet in a humbucker is bright but very even across the tonal spectrum.
