A freind of mine bought a used strat that came with a Road Runner case. I though it was just as good as any TKL or G&G cases I have.

As a side note, when I went to the Vintage Guitar Show in Valley Forge TKL had a table and they were blowing out Strat style cases for $100. And these were nice cases.

From www.roadrunnercases.com

"A multi-ply oak wooden case is a time-tested and road-tested design that protects your instrument through the heaviest of touring schedules. The classic tweed covering matches perfectly with your vintage or vintage-style instrument. The interior is padded with plush fabric so your guitar is protected from scratches, dings and dents. A built-in accessory case gives you plenty of space for must-have items like picks and spare strings."

Fender gets their cases I think from G & G. I am guessing that the only reason they are more expensive is that they have to stop the run and put the "Fender" logo on the case. Your essentially paying for the name and "mojo" factor.

Like I said, I have a TKL case I got with my Hallmark 60's Custom and that is of the same quality and build as the Tweed case for my Fender 52RI Tele. The Roadrunner cases are just as good.

I had a RoadRunner case for a Martin DX1 dread. It was 5 ply. The real Martin 300 series cases are only 3 ply. RoadRunners are pretty good. Great value.

I've got one, it's just okay, the little snap on the inside compartment broke within a couple days. I've been meaning to fix it for, uh, months. It's quite heavy too, I don't know if all tweed cases are this heavy(they are generally heavier aren't they?). I also think the latches could be a lot better, but they've been okay for my occasional use.

I don't have a Fender tweed case to compare it to, but I doubt I'd buy another one of these Roadrunner ones(although I like their gig bags). I only bought it because GC had them on sale for $50. If you decide to get one, especially this time of year, I'd try to get it cheaper.

I used to have a Roadrunner case that smelled so strongly of pine resin that it made everything else in it smell that way too. Yes, including the guitar. I don't have the guitar anymore, either.
