I looking for the size of the screw that holds the control plate down. Thanks

Actual pre-CBS vintage guitars used #5 x 5/8" nickle plated SM on Tele and Jazz control plates, Strat jack plates and bass string "trees".
Somewhere along the way during the CBS years they switched to the same as the pickguard screws - #4 x 1/2" (except for the bass string holds).

The 5 x 5/8" is a common hinge screw size, but not used for much else these days.
Fender still uses 5x5/8 on some vintage and Custom Shop models.
