The Rivian rotates in place - half-minute video - note that they chose happy background music, not sad, and a dirt/mud surface, not pavement:
These two guys are talking about plowing snow with an electric truck vs an ICE:
skip up to 40:41 in this 45-minute electric truck comparison video
btw I heard the Lordstown truck is on very shaky financial ground - may never happen, idk
My dear auntie, tactless as she sometimes could be, used to say, "That right there's as ugly as homemade soap!"
Interesting point, my wife drives in the same way your mother drove . I replace brakes every year instead of every 3-5 yrs I would guess ?Insane power becoming affordable. What could go wrong?
When my mother drove, she was a hard on the throttle, hard on the brakes driver. Not because she liked performance, but because she was not a good driver and did not have any finesse - at all. A Tesla or a truck like that? She would have killed herself and others.
Interesting, though.
She might have (she drove a Marquis), but I KNOW I did.Your auntie probably said the same thing about the first-generation Ford Taurus, and those are downright boxy by today's standards.

That hit hard because I have been working long days , seven days a week . And getting nowhere fast …A guy sees his boss in the parking lot getting into a really cool car, and says, "Oh...my...God...that is an AWESOME car."
The boss says, "Yes, it is. And if you really apply yourself...work like a dog...arrive early and leave late...work on weekends...I can get an even MORE awesome car."
Between the choices, the whirligigs seem tame in comparison. The Columbia is dotted with them the whole way down the Gorge out here. I quite like them!Right. Why not burn coal or heavy fuel oil, or defile the country's ancient hilltops with ugly Spanish whirligigs, or generate nearly eternal toxic nuclear waste?
There is no substitute. I struggle with wanting to sell my Porsche every day but then as soon as I drive it, it reminds you why it has the reputation of a nearly perfect road car.I’m a big hypocrite. I recently replaced my 2007 Yukon. I don’t need the massive cargo and towing capability anymore, just need a grocery getter/daily driver to keep the miles off the sports cars. A Model Y made every bit of sense. They’re expensive but I could finance a large part of it at like 1.8%.
But….. I don’t like the looks (other teslas look great imo). I don’t like the spaceship interior. I don’t like feeling like I’m driving a computer.
So I bought a 2015 Macan S that’s loaded with every luxury and performance option Porsche had available for that year. With sport exhaust, it sounds like a race car (goes pretty good too). The interior is familiar feeling, great seats that are adjustable 14 ways, and they’re ventilated for cooling and heating.
I know I should have gotten an ev, but this thing is too fun. Pics or it didn’t happen below.

That's because the last quadrajet rolled off the line in 33 years ago, and it was a 25 year old design by then. But the answer is - you throw it away and get a Holley EFI. You hardly see wheelwrights mending wagons these days, but few are lamenting it.Even today, not many auto mechanics can tune a quadrajet!
Now it's more clear to me why my boss is excited about getting his Rivian. It looks like it will do more than tow better than his Teslas.

Good to know there's a full-sized spare and substantial jack (6:56 min).
You are same age my assistant learned to double her wage and a little older than when I did. I learned to embrace change, learn new stuff, and moved to both job and industry with more stability and demand. That hit hard because I have been working long days , seven days a week . And getting nowhere fast …
I don't see the connection or comparison with the two very different firms' different problems. I'm aware of Rivian and the other startups challenges in manufacturing. We can't dismiss how much experience - 100+ years - some have had in manufacturing. It's also cool to see the startups and innovation.Rivian 800 hp.... how much HP does an engine that never gets produced put out?
I thought I saw on the news last week that Rivian is in big financial trouble?

Electrify America faces more issues as Rivian R1T gets "fried" at station in California
Electrify America has had their share of issues lately, from unreliable chargers that are frequently out of service to chargers that are just weeks old being ripped out and removed with no explanation from the [...]driveteslacanada.ca

The innovation and competition are far beyond EVs. For Wall St Journal readers, look at today's article on Chinese auto making.
In the meanwhile my boss' Rivian remains LONG overdue.
It might be time to get off the bus. That hit hard because I have been working long days , seven days a week . And getting nowhere fast …
Part of my boss' delay was switching from pickup to their SUV. He could not wait for them or Ford and GM to deliver an EV pickup so leased a gasoline powered GM pickup when his Ford lease was up.My Grandson has had one on order forever it seems.....
Luckily for us, they’ll be driving themselves soon.Insane power becoming affordable. What could go wrong?
