I love natural wood finishes, but sometimes you gotta go bold!

    Digging that pointy orange get-tar,

Kind of reminiscent of Kiwano Melon / African Horn Melon

Well, I never said this thing was going to middle of the road :). If only it would stop raining so I can put the metallic color coat and clear on it...

Nice work with the body shape. It's not easy to bring original ideas to the table without calling back to traditional shapes - all while retaining a balanced look that hangs well.

And, child of the eighties as I am - I really dig the color choice.

Finally got a great day to spray some. That means the orange copper metallic paint went on. Here it is in the evening sun:

It's going to be pretty great, I think. Hopefully I can get some clear on there pretty soon. It's going to snazzy! I have to remind myself to be patient.

After letting the lacquer cure, I wetsanded it a couple days ago. Yesterday was buff/polish/assemble/setup. I discovered a couple minor oopsies, the most egregious of which is that the bridge could be moved back about 1/8" which would help with low E intonation. I'll likely get that done soon so that I can wrap this up. The bridge pickup sounds a little weak, but the neck pickup is big, clear, and full. On the whole, it's probably worth the $60-70 I've got in it.

Verrrrrry nice, Ripthorn, I really like your builds! Great design as always.

So what kind of paint did you use? I've used the metal flecks duplicolor before and had good results... but not that nice!

Darn, that is one sharp looking instrument, and not just because of the pointy shapes! Well done!
