Damn. That really sucks. And I'm not near as familiar with his work with Issac's as I am with "El Dorado", which is a masterpiece IMO. God bless his family and friends.

James came to one of the SoCal TDPRI jams back in the early 2000s, I got a chance to talk to him for a while. Very nice guy, turned out he had a brief but interesting connection to someone I knew in my own profession.

Sad news, indeed. He made a big mark on music especially with his Chris Isaac work, his solo stuff is great too but of course with Chris Isaac his playing got widespread public exposure.

This sucks. Great guy. I hadn’t talked to him in quite a while, but when I was doing stuff with Waylon’s old guys back in the 00’s he reached out to me. He was a huge Waylon fan and wanted all the details. I was blown away. Here’s a guy who’s playing I greatly admired, that I never though I’d actually get to talk to, sending me messages. He was really cool. Wish I’d kept up the communication. This makes me sad.

That’s very sad, he’ll be missed. Adios James.

Though I only knew him through places like this, I feel like I lost a family member. Christmas is a little sadder and the world is a little quieter. I might have to go play my red guitar in his honor. ;-)

    RIP James Calvin Wilsey

He actually named his son Waylon. He’s in his teens now.

all the memories of Wicked Game are fine, but remember this: his band the Avengers played with the Sex Pistols on their very last show ever at SF Winterland.

Aw that's just sad. He was a cool guy on this forum and shared many things with us. Can never get the sound of Wicked out of my head. One of the coolest guitar riffs ever! RIP.....:(

RIP. Seemed like a great guy and his guitar sound is iconic Strat. I could listen to Wicked on a loop for months and never tire of it. Far too young.

First time I heard this I felt the same way I felt the first time I heard Hendrix, then Van Halen, and Knophler. A totally original sound and player. RIP James Calvin Wilsey with your WickedGTR

Never heard of him until I clicked on the video & I must say I am impressed; really love the vintage surf/drippy reverb sound (hence my love affair with Mosrites). Kinda like Dick Dale meets Jimi. Gonna try to find as much as I can about him & his music. So sorry to hear of his passing.
