just this minute read a brief message from a mutual friend and (former) TDPRI stalwart announcing the passing of JC Wilsey, known here as WickedGTR.

I knew him when we was kids together on the SF punk scene, and followed his career through some ups and downs. I still hear his most famous guitar part - the haunting 'Wicked Game' sung by Chris Izaak - in the most unexpected places.

    Sadness.

BTW - I have not independently confirmed this. I wish it would not be true.

I saw the same message and have been trying to confirm this also without luck, but I suspect it is true. :(

Wicked Game is one of my favourite songs and JC seemed a good guy.
If his passing is confirmed, he left a fine legacy of distinctive and memorable guitar sounds.

Sad news, he was a nice guy and a great player. Gone way too soon.
I bought his ElDorado album, great playing.

    Very sorry to hear.
    He was my age.
What a great player, with a great sound/tone.
He left us with his unforgettable, signature guitar style.
Very few of us ever do that.
    RIP, sir.

I shared a few posts and a couple emails with him. Super nice guy and a real student of the art. A unique musician, I love his haunting guitar tone and his amazing application of the trem.

Dang...he hasn't been active here for awhile, but it was always cool to have his input.
He was truly a wicked player with an awesome melodic feel.
