    Dang it!

One of my claims to fame was being the guy who showed up with a John Prine album and blew everyone's minds!

    Thanks JP!

I had been preparing for this since I heard he was in the hospital. For the last couple of days I had been trying to convince myself that he must be in the clear. Well, I guess he actually is in the clear now. There is a big hole in the world now. Damn

Very sad news. I loved the days of my youth listening to my folk heroes: John Prine and Dave Van Ronk.

This sucks. I'm sorry he's gone, but thankful for what he left behind.

All the more reason for the rest of us to try to get through all this with the kind of grace that Mr. Prine will always stand for.....

Yeah, this hurts. He was a huge part of my soundtrack for many years of my life. A beautiful poet. RIP John....we'll miss you.

I was doing the same. I thought he was doing better since I hadn't heard any updates....then the balloon burst.

Sad day indeed. His influence on other artists I love is H-U-G-E.

I just sat down at the piano and played and sang "Angel from Montgomery". RIP, John Prine ...

A bittersweet development from this has been that the two bands I (used to? may again someday?) gig with regularly - and who are completely separate in most ways - are independently blowing up my phone with texts, remembrances, and the lyrics of John Prine. That's one reason I love playing with both of those groups. Requiescas in pace, John.

I first saw John Prine singing up close and personal with Bonnie Raitt in a very small venue 45 years ago. It was really memorable, a striking reminder that amazing talent does not need studio recording to nail it. The real deal. A sad day.
