    He had some big hits, but his library of music and his vocal ability was much deeper than the average hit maker. The real deal, and from what I have heard - a real gentleman.

    RIP Joe, you (and thousands others) did not deserve this!

    Old Man? Is there an inside reference or joke we are missing? 61 is hardly "old man" age ;)

    He was my age.

    Man I hated to read this. He was a great singer with lots of great songs.

    "John Deere Green" in particular is one of my favorite songs. You couldn't have picked anyone better suited to sing it. He had serious pipes.
