There weren't many people in Sydney who didn't listen to this guy every morning thru the 80s and 90s. Plenty of time I'd be stuck in traffic while his show was on, I'd be in stitches and looking around you'd see every other driver around you also doubled over with laughter.

Buses had billboards on them saying "2MMM would like to apologise for what Doug Mulray said on radio this morning"

When Robin Williams was his guest, the two of them together was comedy on another level.. Williams eventually said "I give up!"

Radio personalities can make a huge impact on our lives. Sorry for his fans.

Just so you are aware, there is another "Uncle Doug" who repairs and discusses tube amps on his popular YouTube channel; I suspect many here—like me—will take your headline to be him.

Uncle Doug was a staple of FM radio in Sydney during the 80's and 90's. Many a time I was glad to be stuck in traffic on morning commute. He was a funny, funny guy.

I loved that he had a tradition of playing a Frank Zappa song as his sign off song for the last show each year. The producers hated it but he didn't care.

He's a taste of what it was like back then.
