Dammit. Every day I got to sit and talk with him was a really good day.

We weren’t close. But we did many shows together over the years. He always remembered me, and always addressed me by name.

He was the real deal. Far too few of them left.

Yeah...my favorite songwriter in the universe.

Rest in peace, Billy Joe. You had a hard ride your entire life.

Sad news about another one-of-a-kind. I thought he'd be around forever.

A friend asked me to sing that song at his funeral.
I did. And that was the last time I sang it.

Well, at least he and Eddy are back together. He was the real deal. As Dylan said, and it's one of my favorite Dylan quotes, " I'm reading James Joyce and listening to Billy Joe Shaver ", r.i.p. maestro....

Jakedog, you must have some great memories from that. It's pretty special to have played with and known Billy Joe Shaver. First Jerry Jeff Walker and now this. Texas has lost another great troubadour.

Yes, the real deal. Performer, song writer, personality. I saw him live a few years ago and he brought it. Goodbye Billy Joe and thanks for all.
