    Time is marching on.
Fortunately, the body of work @ Muscle Shoals stands.

Rick Hall, a songwriter and record producer known as the "Father of Muscle Shoals Music," died today at his home in Muscle Shoals, Ala. after a protracted illness. The news was first reported by the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and later confirmed by Judy Hood, chairperson for the Muscle Shoals Music Association and wife of David Hood, a bassist who had worked alongside Hall for decades. He was 85.

That man made a huge contribution to the music world over his career. The stuff that came out of his studio is up at the top of my all time favorites list. RIP. Thanks for all the great tunes.

There are many, many great musical moments recorded there. One of my favorites is Boz Scaggs second album with Duanne Allman on guitar as well all of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. So much of the music of my youth was recorded there. Great contribution to the world of music...RIP, Mr. Hall.

What a life full of great accomplishments for the music world. I never knew of him until I watched the muscle shoals documentary, really cool story and group of musicians. He will certainly be missed.

I recall hearing a radio interview of him, just a few months ago. He gave Duane that break he needed to get into the business, and that was just one of the many kind things this man did.

    He will be missed.

    A giant.
Great sounding room, revolutionary miking techniques, a great ear, and a nose for talent.
Deeply conflicted, troubled, apparently very difficult to get along with.
    Extremely influential.

If you read the wikipedia article, you will see that Boz' record was done with the band that used to work for Rick Hall at FAME studios. Nothing against Mr Hall (RIP) but he wasn't involved with this record.

He looks familiar. Was he featured in the Muscle Shoals documentary? I saw that on Netflix last year; really enjoyed it. That’s where I learned that one of my favorite Stone’s songs, Brown Sugar, was recorded. RIP.

Kind of strange to see a tweet from Gregg Allman lamenting the passing of Rick..

My apologies for the oversight and confusion. I saw ‘Muscle Shoals’ and took some things for granted. My error....two great studios in Sheffield, AL.
