Rick Hall of Fame Records and Fame Studios of Muscle Shoals Alabama has passed away. As a producer and entrepreneur he was resourceful, creative and smart. He was responsible for many country, pop and R&B/soul hit records, plus much memorable music. RIP Rick Hall and thank you for all the wonderful music and inspiration.

He was a capable visionary who facilitated the recording of timeless music.

If you haven't seen the Muscle Shoals documentary, you need to. It's hard to overestimate Hall's impact on popular music. He was either a genuine visionary or just had an uncanny sense for good music. Really lead a tragedy filled life too.

I've been lucky enough to visit FAME studios and speak with his son and daughter. I send them my deepest condolences.

    Another Legend passes.

Hard for me to truly appreciate or even imagine how broad his impact was in the grand scheme of it.

I'm so glad I saw that documentary, and glad that he had the chance to appear in it before leaving us. It's a story that deserves telling and retelling. R.I.P.

Not a household name to be sure. But, anyone who knows music knows how big of a player he was in the music industry. Thanks for the memories Rick!

"Do you like soul music ... Yeah Yeah. Sweet soul of music " ... What amazing tunes came out of that studio/production line.

Every bit as much an inspiration to me as any of the British R'n'B I love so much.

Such a small response to this...

I was more familiar with the Swampers and the MSS studio w/ the Stones etc. than FAME. I heard about Rick passing on my bi- weekly run to the library, and when I got there the librarian was putting out a few things relating to him, including the film. I checked it out and brought it home, and watched it yesterday. Very well done and a nice tribute.

Incredible for so much music to come from one small area, reminded me a lot of my home town that I could not wait to get out of, but Rick stayed in his and in spite of a life worthy of a Greek Tragedy, created something that has brought so much to so many. I hope he has finally found peace.
