On a serious note I don’t find it surprising if thats how he felt at the time of writing his will

As I grow I may feel different

But as an ex spouse what entitlement does she have ?

Doesn’t seem like he really had any assets other than copyright which I’d assume would have to be sold to be worth the purported 5 million

Or are you shocked how little assets he did have?

I read in some article that she's worth 80 million on her own. She'll be fine.

I wouldn't leave anything to a person who abandoned me either.
It's a shame he had to go through that in his final years. The stress of it all couldn't have helped his health any.

Google says each was/is worth $80 million, so it's a wash numerically, but Ric gets to have the last dig.

I didn't know that things weren't peachy between them. To accuse someone of abandoning them seems very dramatic and, uh, shocking to me. The will and amount of money don't mean anything to me. But abandonment?

35 years together, I'm sure he felt a certain way about the split, regardless of how peaceful it was.

Sorry to hear his situation at the end but I don't see any reason that he would not have excluded her.

You could do a lot of damage in a number of different ways to someone who wronged you if you were wealthy and no longer around to suffer any consequences. I don't think leaving her out of his will is in any way malicious considering she had abandoned him.

Obviously he knew he was sick and so did she. And when it counted she wasn't there to call an ambulance. Abandoned.

    No real surprise here.

Divorced spouses oftentimes do something like leave the ex $1.00 or $10.00. It is the diplomatic way to stick it to them. It is done to stop the ex from asserting that the deceased intended to provide for him/her but forgot. It helps avoid challenges to the will. In this case, it looks like Ric just laid it on the line. Besides, as others have already mentioned, she is plenty well off on her own.

The bigger legal issue may be the exclusion of two of his six kids.

naaah - Ric gets the FIRST dig, literally (and literary)

Just got through a potential will contest - and the stakes weren't this high, but the drama is Real.

    Peace - Deeve
