I bought some saddles for a telecaster project that are supposed to be 1959 vintage - they are ribbed, and they appear to be steel. Is this correct?

By ribbed I think you mean "threaded" and yeah, they should be correct.

Because of your post, I think I'm gonna start my own bridge and saddle company, come out with a special run of threaded saddles, and label them all with "ribbed for her pleasure". Glendale would be jealous!

So the proper name is "threaded" - thanks! Suddenly a whole world of information opens up. Apparently made their debut in 1958, and steel saddles made theirs in 1954, so these that I have do seem consistent with a 1959 set. Thank you!
