Alright another update. During the week I pressed in the fretsI have an old 10 press drill thats perfect for that. If it breaks I'll only cry just a bit hehe. I buy my frets pre radiused because I haven't got around to making a fret roller yet. I overbend them just a hair by hand. For this time I used CA glue and I have to say if you are careful it's cleaner than using wood glue like I've been using.
After that I filed flush and beveled the ends. I always go for 25 degrees. I find 35 makes the string too close to the edge and often slips. I leveled right away and was really surprised how little it needed it. But I did it anyways. Crowned and polished right away because, why not lol? No pictures of that though
Now I went to shaping the neck. I built a simple jig to hold the neck at an angle so I could plane the taper on the back using the UN-safe-t-planer. I hate that tool but I have to admit it makes the job alot easier and more precise. before I used to do the taper on the ROSS and it was always a guess at best for me.
When this was done I went to shaping the neck. I go the facet way, but I draw by hand the profiles (using Fender templates) and mesure all by hand. I have no idea how to use a computer to do that. Went at it with the shinto rasp and in like 30 minutes all the facets were done excluding the transitions
Did the transitions and sanded everything smooth
and thats it the neck is done needs final sanding and finishing
